Born and raised in Dallas, I'm a working artist living in Austin, Texas with my wife and our dog. Most of my adult professional life was spent in the food service industry, where my love for creativity came in handy with my love of cooking. Drawn to the arts since I can remember, I majored in Theatre and minored in Art at UNT, but my passion really turned towards the visual arts in the last 10 years. I enjoy the challenge and possibilities that come from working with wood. I have been especially passionate about incorporating my love of drawing with the advancements of laser cutting to my favorite medium. Laser cutting and etching allows me to create pieces and illustrate the stories I want my art to communicate to the viewer through design, color and texture.
My main medium is Baltic Birch plywood. I use a variety of stains and seal the wood with a water based sealer before cutting and etching and use acrylic paint for backgrounds. I cut and print my own paper for the journals and sketchbooks and I make my own frames for the framed art.
