My artwork explores the intersection of geometric precision and organic storytelling by transforming raw wood into intricate, whimsical natural landscapes. Utilizing a laser cutter allows me to achieve microscopic detail and structural layers that would be impossible by hand, turning Baltic birch panels into delicate, lace-like windows. By contrasting the clinical accuracy of technology with the warm, unpredictable grain of natural wood, I create a bridge between the digital world and the ancient soul of the forest. By capturing playful, whimsical narratives in a permanent, earthy medium, I aim to create modern artifacts of imagination. I want the viewer to step close, smell the faint scent of charred wood, track the intricate lines, and temporarily escape into a world where nature and magic are entirely inseparable.
Medium
My main medium is Baltic Birch plywood. I use a variety of stains and seal the wood with a water based sealer before cutting and etching and use acrylic paint for backgrounds. I cut and print my own paper for the journals and sketchbooks and I make my own frames for the framed art.
